There’s absolutely nothing wrong with spending your entire stay here by the pool or on the beach with a well-chosen book. However, should you wish to work up an appetite before enjoying the island’s excellent food, then you won’t be short of things to do. An exhaustive list of activities and excursions are on offer – just speak to our reception team, who will be happy to advise and make any reservations for you.
Sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, jet skiing, waterskiing, diving, snorkelling, surfing, wind surfing, kite surfing, deep sea fishing, boat rentals or excursions – you name it, St. Barth’s has got it.
St Barths is located at 18°N 63°W in the north-eastern corner of the Caribbean Sea – 4,400 miles from Paris, 1,700 miles from New York, 125 miles east of Puerto Rico, and 15 miles southeast of St. Maarten. It’s a small place – a little more than eight square miles in area – with steep hills that divide the island into several valleys, usually open on one side to the sea.
What’s really wonderful is that each valley is completely distinctive in its own right, with unique variations of architecture, wildlife and even language. We like to think that this creates the illusion of being in a much larger place. But the truth is things are very quiet around here, with only one town and a dozen villages spread evenly across the island.
At Les Ilets de la Plage we do things a bit differently to the hustle and bustle you might find elsewhere. We run a quiet, understated resort of 11 villas located on the beautiful St Jean Beach with a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom layouts either on the beach itself or amongst the hillside’s lush tropical gardens.
Life here is very simple, laid back and relaxing. You can spend a morning reading in your hammock, grab a lazy lunch on your terrace and then head to the beach for a tranquil afternoon.
An abundance of delis and more than 80 different restaurants, representing cuisine from all across the globe, can be found on St Barths. In our opinion, the famously sophisticatedrest1 yet casual restaurant scene – which has seen the island often dubbed ‘the culinary capital of the Caribbean’ – compares favourably to almost anywhere in the world.
Wherever you choose to dine, you can be sure of enjoying varied and exquisite cuisine with French flair, great wine, attentive service and a relaxed atmosphere. What’s more, if you look in the right place you’ll often find freshly caught local seafood as well as French delicacies straight off the regular flight from Paris.
With 22 beaches of different shapes and sizes on the island, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice. Some of them are not as easily accessible as others, but each has its own character and is strikingly beautiful.
Here at Les Ilets, we want you to relax and let us take care of you while you are staying with us. We can organise anything from a gastronomic feast of French or Creole specialities from your favourite restaurants.
St Barths is also home to world class wedding planners, top chefs, photographers, world famous hair dressers. Let us put you in touch with them all to plan your special day.
